BOSTON -- William Nylander did not play for the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference First Round against the Boston Bruins at TD Garden on Monday because of an undisclosed injury.
Stone sustained a lacerated spleen in a 5-3 loss to the Nashville Predators on Feb. 20. The Golden Knights put him on long-term injured reserve. The salary-cap space helped them acquire defenseman Noah Hanifin and forwards Anthony Mantha and Tomas Hertl before the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline on March 8.
It’s clear that Toronto missed the presence of Nylander in Game 1. He’s a proven scorer who finished second on the team with 98 points (40 goals, 58 assists) in 82 games, second only to Auston Matthews in points. With Matthews, Mitch Marner and John Tavares all held off the score sheet Saturday, getting Nylander back would be significant.
In the midst of the eruption of over 18,000 fans, Rod Brind'Amour had a quick decision to make. He had just had six of his best horses on the ice in search of the equalizer and needed three forwards out there to follow up the madness.
RALEIGH, N.C. --The New York Islanders had the finish line in sight Monday. It loomed tantalizingly in the distance. Block one more shot, take one more hit to make a play, win one more battle like they had all night, and escape a decidedly hostile ...
To no one’s surprise, Sam Reinhart, building off his 57-goal regular season, opened the scoring for the Panthers in Game 1 with a tip in the first period to make it 1-0. Later in the period, Brandon Hagel even the score for the Lightning when he buried a rebound to make it 1-1.
Sebastian Aho and Jordan Martinook scored the tying and lead goal in a nine-second span late in the third period and Jake Guentzel added an empty net goal as the Carolina Hurricanes took a 2-0 lead in their Round 1 playoff series with a 5-3 victory over the Isles before a sellout crowd of 18,905 at PNC Arena.

MONTREAL – Every March in Montreal, four–leaf clovers are typically synonymous with good luck. But for Habs fan Michelle Dube, it was instead a four- legged lucky charm who won her a memorable night at the Bell Centre: Jarod the pug.

Timo Meier will have shoulder surgery Tuesday, but the New Jersey Devils forward is expected to be ready for training camp in September. Meier led the Devils with 28 goals this season and was fourth with 52 points in 69 games. He missed 13 games due to injury (lower-body, mid-body).
